Muguruza has belief and knowhow to topple Serena

A 21st major singles trophy, one short of the Open-era record.

Through it all, Williams has maintained her bold, brash playing style on the court and her quirky personality off it. So as the 33-year-old sets her sights on a “Serena Slam”, we’re taking a look back at some of her most notable highlights to date. And then I feel like there are 80 million people in Germany who think I’m a bodybuilder. Without beign aggressive you can not tame a Williams. It’s been okay just to free my brain.

Whatever works. Clearly, Williams is doing plenty right at the moment.

Now there are times when players will look up to their box in order to clarify whether they should challenge a ball.

Williams is the first woman since Justine Henin in 2006 to reach four Grand Slam finals in a row.

Although she still has a way to go to match some the other great player’s stats, her dominance over her current rivals is unarguable. She can call upon it whenever she’s in trouble whether down in a game or facing break points. She had a 29-9 edge in winners.

When Williams, 33, beat Maria Sharapova in the semifinals on Thursday, Drake was center court to support his pal. Last month she was beaten in the first round at Birmingham and knocked out of Eastbourne by Britain’s Johanna Konta in the third round. Sure, I won’t be happy but I don’t need another Wimbledon title. The only thing that could stop her – or the only person who could stop her – is Muguruza, who until last year’s upset win over Williams at Roland Garros was relatively unknown even in the tennis world.

Her great rivalry with Chris Evert spanned most the of 70s and 80s with Navratilova coming out on top by 43 wins to 37.

Williams continued: “I’ve won so many Slam titles”.

Williams meets Muguruza of Spain in Saturday’s final and is wary of the damage the youngster has inflicted upon her in the past. More ominously, the first four points that lasted at least six strokes ended with errors by Sharapova.

The 21-year-old will face Williams in the final on Saturday – a player that she grew up idolizing along with her sister, Venus Williams.

“It was an eye-opening loss for me”, said the reigning USA, Australian and French Open champion.

Serena Williams is still on track for a true Grand Slam. Muguruza, at 6 feet, has an archetypal frame for tennis: she’s tall enough to generate a formidable first serve, with a muscularity and core strength that power the heavy strokes of her ground game.

“Wasn’t really a good decision”, Radwanska acknowledged.

Where Muguruza holds the advantageMuguruza left speechless after defeating Radwanska for a spot in the finals.

Muguruza intends to be aggressive, which is her natural game and overwhelmed Agnieszka Radwanska for large parts of their semi-final. When it ended, Muguruza dropped her racket and fell onto the court on her stomach. Although she claims not to be superstitious, she has come so far in the competition without her family being here and has told her mum and dad in no uncertain times they are not welcome on Centre Court today.
