Ali is made unforgettable not only by his impressive record of 61 fights and 56 wins, but also for what he stood for. His body was flown to Louisville on Sunday.

Joseph Obiri put on his Muhammad Ali T-shirt, the same one he’s worn in tribute since the news of the boxer’s death reached him, and brought his 2-year-old son Samuel from their home in Cincinnati.

Family members said they thought he would pull through, as he had in the past, but he died on Friday at the age of 74.

But Ali’s athletic achievements didn’t define him – they were just part of a package and it was perhaps what he did outside of the ring that turned him into the man we know.

She witnessed the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier fight at Madison Square Garden in 1971 and saw him there again in 1999 for Sports Illustrated’s celebration of the top athletes of the 20th Century. King says Ali “talked the talk and walked the walk”.
