Muhammad Wilkerson: Wilkerson likely to play out his contract
Everything surrounding the New York Jets in 2015 just feels different.

The storyline to end all Jets storylines revolves around the evolution of quarterback Geno Smith. So we’ve got everything ahead of us that we can take care of.
Darrelle Revis took Sheldon Richardson aside before training camp – a veteran imparting his wisdom to a young player that screwed up in a big way.
Wilkerson has 24½ sacks, a safety, seven forced fumbles and 14 passes defensed in his first four NFL seasons, while establishing himself as one of the league’s rising talents at defensive end. We’ve got to get passed that. Players are placed on Active/PUP with football-related injuries at the start of camp and sit out until cleared by the medical staff. That’s why I hate to talk about individual stuff because it’s a team game. He also addressed two more areas of need by acquiring wide receiver Brandon Marshall and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick via trades. Last season, there were blunders on the field and off for Smith, who is aware the spotlight is shining on him brighter than ever.
What Bowles means is that if Geno plays poorly, he won’t hesitate to bench the third-year signal-caller.
“We’re happy having him on the squad”, Smith said. The demand for perfection.
“I think he’ll do well”, Harris said. Next up was the hiring of Bowles, who won a Super Bowl as a player in 1988 with Washington and has steadily risen through the coaching ranks. “I think we have a great leader with Todd Bowles on the staff”.
With training camp set to open at the team’s facility – the Jets traveled to SUNY Cortland in Central New York for five of six summers under Ryan – the players will get a chance to truly get familiar with how Bowles wants to do things. DT Sheldon Richardson, suspended the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, also was in attendance but won’t be made available to reporters until Thursday.

There is hope from Wilkerson’s camp that an extension might still be worked out before the regular season, and contracts signed by fellow defensive linemen Cameron Jordan and Corey Liuget could serve as a basis.
