Multiple ‘bomb scares’ halt AI, Jet flights

According to sources, the call was received by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airports). This comes just two days after a Kathmandu-bound Jet Airways flight with 111 people on board was halted minutes before take-off from the IGI Airport, due to a bomb threat. A team of Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) has reached the venue to check the flights.

The threat calls on Wednesday were made to the security officer of the Jet Airways about bombs being placed in two Kathmandu-bound flights – one of Jet (9W 260) and the other of Air India (AI 215).

National carrier Air India also said that the flight has been delayed due the same reason. “All 122 guests and 7 crew have been taken to the departures waiting area at the airport”, Jet Airways said in a statement.

The stranded flight later got security clearance and took off for Nepal’s capital at 1930 hours after a six-hour delay. On Monday, a Jet Airways flight was grounded after an anonymous call was received claiming to have planted a bomb under one of the seats of the plane.
