Multiple casualties reported in Oregon shooting

Multiple people have been shot after an attack at a community college in south-western Oregon, emergency officials say.

The Oregon State Police confirmed at least 10 people were dead and 20 were wounded.

Umpqua is a two-year school with roughly 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students.

Boice said the shooter was “brought down”, according to KGW reporter Tim Gordon.

The shooter was believed to have been detained, Fugate also told CNN.

The shooting was reported around 10:40 a.m. (PST).

“Active shooter scene is code 4”.

The local fire agency that serves Douglas County said on Twitter that multiple casualties had been transported to the hospital for treatment.

A picturesque campus in the North Umpqua River Valley, the school prides itself on a “a peaceful, safe atmosphere, and year-round recreational activities”, according to its website.
