Multiple shooting victims in downtown Austin
Police are still withholding the identities of the slain woman and four wounded persons, three of whom received hospital treatment and one who declined transport to a hospital. A separate incident ended with the gunman injured when bystanders helped detain the man after he fired his weapon during a fight.

Manley said because of the large crowd presence, police were getting descriptions of a suspect from witnesses. He said there was another confrontation in a nearby parking garage and that a shot was sacked there.
Police warned people to avoid the area, tweeting: “Active shooter incident downtown, multiple victims”. The second attack, classified as an assault, took place several blocks away, seven minutes later.
“It was a very chaotic scene”, Manley said.
Police officials confirmed earlier reports that a female thought to be in her 20s had been pronounced dead on the scene.
Captain Rick Rutledge of the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services tells The Associated Press that one woman is dead and two women and a man have been taken to hospitals following a shooting in the city’s entertainment district.

Three of the patients were taken to hospital with “serious, but not life threatening injuries”.
