Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu appealed for cooperation as the police went to the location of the protests to clear the tracks.

The enraged commuters barged into the station master’s office and demanded immediate action to resolve the issue.

Suburban passengers coming to CST complained that the trains were running 15 -25 minutes late.

Earlier this morning, those travelling from Badlapur to CST had a harrowing time as train services were stopped between Karjat and Kalyan.

However, the security personnel at the railway station calmed down the agitated passengers and brought the situation under control.

The delay had occurred after a signal failure at Bhivpuri station which meant there was no train running for more than half an hour during the peak hours. The protest is reported to have been impromptu, with people climbing down onto the railway tracks to express their displeasure at perpetual delays in trains. “11301 CST-KSR Bengaluru Udyan Exp sch dep 0805 hrs on 12.8.2016 is RESCHEDULED at 1125 hrs on 12.8.2016 due to public agitation at Badlapur”, other tweets said.
