Munich terror threat remains in place, stations open again
At a late-night news conference, Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said a friendly foreign intelligence service had warned Germany of an imminent terror attack at midnight by between five and seven suicide bombers planning to blow themselves up at different locations in Munich including the two train stations.

The Munich Police recommends the citizens to keep away from crowds, as well as to avoid the Munich Central Station and the railway Pasing station.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere thanked Bavarian authorities for their action, warning in a statement that the security situation in Europe and Germany “remains serious in the New Year”.

“We have examined data relating to these names, but at the moment, we do not know if these names are correct, whether these people exist and where they are”, he said, adding that the suspects were allegedly from Iraq and Syria.
On Wednesday, Belgian authorities canceled a New Year’s Eve firework display, citing fears of a possible attack.
Mr de Maiziere promised that in the future, German security officials would continue to analyse the situation thoroughly and act accordingly.
