Rost said Greenwood and Gilbertson had been friends but that she was unaware of their status recently.

Gilbertson appeared in a St. Louis County courtroom in Virginia Tuesday morning where a judge set bail at one million dollars.

“I have no idea what happened between them”.

Greenwood’s body was discovered at approximately 11 a.m. Thursday in the Mott Pitt area on the west side of Mountain Iron. Investigators noticed tire tracks leading into the ditch where the body was discovered, and there was charring of the ground and vegetation around the victim. His body was identified Saturday through fingerprint analysis, and the sheriff’s office said it was determined that Greenwood was the victim of a homicide.

Officials say they believe the body had been in the former iron ore mine less than 24 hours.

Dylan Gilbertson, 19, of Hibbing, was arrested without incident Sunday night for the murder of 20-year-old Jaysen Greenwood, also of Hibbing.

Later, when questioned about a blood stain found under a recliner in the apartment police say Gilbertson told them Greenwood had shot himself with a flare gun and that’s how blood got on the ceiling, carpet and furniture too.

Investigators said the body was wrapped in a cloth material, such as blankets or towels, indicating that Greenwood was killed elsewhere and moved.
