A murder suspect in a Las Vegas police station has staged a daring escape through the ceiling of the room he was held in.

North Las Vegas Chief of Police Alexander Perez admitted Wednesday that no one was even watching the live surveillance footage during Perez’s escape.
Police said Mr Perez, who was still wearing ankle chains, then left the station and escaped after discovering a truck with the keys in the ignition.
It was another 25 minutes before detectives realized he was gone, the police chief said.
Perez stole a truck from a nearby parking lot during his escape. The vehicle was found abandoned several hours later. According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, Perez is suspected of shooting and killing Mohammed Robinson outside of a McDonald’s restaurant.
In the video, Alonso Perez returns to his seat, where the police chief said he sat calmly with his wrist on the bar when a police detective checked on him.
Cameras were pointed at suspected killer Alonso Perez as he broke the hinges of his handcuffs and plotted the rest of his escape.
Police say a Nevada homicide suspect who had been on the loose for more than four days after breaking his handcuffs was recaptured overnight less than a mile from where police found a truck he’s believed to have stolen to get away.
Witnesses have said the fatal argument began with angry words about Robinson not holding a door open for a woman.
The officer added: “We’re not flawless, the police are simply not ideal”.
Alonso Perez had been arrested on suspicion of murder, discharging a firearm into a building, grand larceny auto and, ironically, escape.
He said an internal investigation is looking at mistakes made.

Police say Perez broke a set of handcuffs Friday and fled from a police interview room. “Someone will monitor the video at all times”, he said. Mayoral-Lizarraga is serving two to five years in state prison.
