Following Rubio’s and Murphy’s respective primary victories on Tuesday night, the GOP senator issued a debate request similar to the one from his 2010 Senate race and requested that at least one of the debates be sponsored by a Spanish-language outlet.

Murphy had no problem beating his primary opponents – political newcomer Pam Keith and three-term Congressman Alan Grayson.
Both Republicans and Democrats got the candidate they wanted for Florida’s Senate seat, as Republican incumbent Marco Rubio easily beat back a primary challenge on Tuesday night, setting up a November matchup with Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy.
The 2008 GOP presidential nominee was challenged by former state Sen.
A poll released on Friday showed that Clinton is supported by an overwhelming majority of Jewish voters in Florida (66 percent), and 51 percent supported the Iran deal.
There is another battle to watch in Florida, where Rep.
About a third of the 100-member Senate and the entire House of Representatives are up for grabs in November. With 85 percent of precincts reporting, Rubio had 71.9 percent of the vote to Beruff’s 18.6.
Previously Rubio had announced his retirement from politics after losing his home state to Trump by some 20 points in the presidential primary election.
And in the Orlando-area 9th District, a safely Democratic district, state Sen.
Rubio will square off against Rep. Patrick Murphy in his re-election bid.
Many of those races have been marked by the familiar national dynamic pitting the party establishment vs. insurgents.
Four incumbents did lose their seats: Republicans Renee Ellmers of North Carolina, Randy Forbes of Virginia, and Tim Huelskamp of Kansas, as well as the Democrat Chaka Fattah, who is facing an indictment in Pennsylvania.
Murphy is expected to spend the next 10 weeks trying to tie Rubio closely to Trump.
Rubio has the advantage of already having won a statewide election in a state with more than 12 million voters. Mr. Beruff, a real estate developer who embraced the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump, stayed in the race but failed to catch fire with Florida voters after spending millions of his own dollars.
The Democratic race was expected to be closer, with Grayson drawing on his support among progressive activists to topple the centrist Murphy. In a letter to Murphy, Rubio said Floridians deserved to hear from both candidates. Debbie Wasserman-Shultz defeated her first primary challenger in 24 years.
“Republicans have taken nothing for granted this cycle”, said Greg Blair, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
Although his rival Kelli Ward, a former state senator, is an avid Trump supporter, the Republican nominee eventually backed Mr McCain’s re-election bid, depriving Dr Ward of much-needed political oxygen to mount a successful challenge. “He’s not a maverick any more because he doesn’t even stand up to Donald Trump”, she said.
