Murray coasts to straight-set win over Haase at Wimbledon

Nadal, the 2008 and 2010 champion, slumped to a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 second round defeat against the world number 102 who hit 13 aces and 58 winners.

The main road to the All England Club was closed today because of damage caused by a storm overnight. He has not lost to an Australian at a major since his first Grand Slam tournament, when he was beaten by Pat Rafter at the 1999 French Open.

There was little sign of a similar marathon unfolding early on here, however, as Murray stamped his mark on the match with some brilliant shot-making on Court One.

Brown used serve-and-volley on 99 of 114 service points, winning 71 of those.

For nearly three sets of Murray’s 6-2 6-2 1-6 6-1 victory on Saturday (NZT Sunday), the third seed was utterly dominant while his opponent looked forlorn, but the momentum of the encounter swung violently following two opportune visits to the court by the trainer. “Then the Duchess opened up her bag and my wristband was in there, so he (Brook) obviously had given it to her”.

Australia’s Nick Kyrgios showed his usual fiery temper and was slapped with a code violation for bouncing his racquet into the crowd.

Second seed Kvitova will face either Serbian 26th seed Jelena Jankovic or Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina for a place in the last 16.

Haase held at love in the first game, then didn’t win another in that set as Murray took 17 of the last 19 points, including 13 in a row in one stretch.

Defending women’s champion Petra Kvitova also enjoyed an easy run into the third round. Kivitova has dropped just three games in two matches so far.

Federer produced another highlight-reel moment to add to his collection of breathtaking shots.

Meanwhile, Roger Federer had no trouble dispatching American Sam Querrey. It’s illegal to deliberately hit the ball twice.

Ex- finalist Agnieszka Radwanska needed just 49 minutes to win her second-round match at Wimbledon on Thursday. She managed to fight back and win the match.

Radwanska lost the 2012 final to Serena Williams.

“The shoulder is fine now”, he told BBC Sport.

That drew an incredulous look and a chuckle from the Scot.

“Is that what they do?”

“So you’ve got Jonas who squeezed absolutely everything out of his ability in his career, and when you’ve got the tools of Murray’s trade as well, to use those in the right fashion, I think it’s a great combination”.

When Murray then sent a Haase smash flying back past the Dutchman for a victor, and followed up with a killer lob, the Briton had two breaks within quarter of an hour’s play.

Since the very first, 10 years ago, Murray has always reached at least the third round here, but Haase was a challenge-at least he was on a good day.

Haase’s resistance finally faltered in game seven, gifting Murray the break with a wild forehand. But an untimely double fault, and Murray had break point, and Haase fired a forehand wide.

Murray, the 2013 champion, has never failed to get past the second round at Wimbledon.

Spaniard Garbine Muguruza defeated Croatia’s Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 7-3 4-6 6-2, while third seed Wozniacki saw off Czech’s Dennisa Allertova 7-1 7-6(6).

Bacsinzky reached her maiden Wimbledon 3rd round with a 6-2 6-1 Spain’s Silvia Soler-Espinosa.

No. 10 seed Angelique Kerber of Germany beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-2.

“It turned out he’d just started learning it and could play about two verses of Wonderwall”.

Karlovic said both touches came “in one motion so that is legal”.

Camilla has been a regular visitor to Wimbledon in recent years.

Among those involved in later matches was Rafa Nadal, who faced an awkward Centre Court test against unconventional German Dustin Brown.

Murray continued through the usual routine as the rain began-some loosening groundies, some practice at the net, a few overheads, a bit of serving, all under the quiet, watchful eye of the heavily pregnant Amelie Mauresmo-and the public faithfully stuck to their seats.
