Andy Murray is already being talked about as the greatest British sportsperson ever after his second Wimbledon title but he wants even more Grand Slam success to cement his place in sporting history. “I’ve played my best tennis under him”, Murray said.

“Yeah possibly, I mean I have always been very emotional, just people don’t always see it.but if you ask my wife she would tell you I’m pretty emotional”.

The current world number two outlined his aims in his BBC Sport column as he reflected on his third Grand Slam win. This has been a great tournament for me but if I want to win a few slams over the next few years I am going to have to get better.

“I know that he will come back strong because of the player he is”.

Murray was back at the All England Club on Monday morning for another round of media interviews looking somewhat bleary eyed.

Murray, who reunited with coach Ivan Lendl last month, is also committed to playing at the 2016 Rio Olympics next month, where he will be the defending champion. “No, I don’t believe him”.

Murray headed home for some much-needed rest after his media duties and was planning a more low-key celebration on Monday night by going out for dinner with his team.

Murray was named last week in the Great Britain squad for the Davis Cup quarter-final away to Serbia – which begins on Friday on outdoor clay in Belgrade – but will consult with captain Leon Smith before making a final decision today on his participation.

“I just need to take a few days off at some stage over the next few weeks because I maybe messed up a little bit a year ago. I’ve been able to do it the last five tournaments I’ve played but we play 18 or 19 tournaments a year so, I need to find a way to try and maintain that”, he said. “I’m obviously happy to win again but there is a reason I wanted Ivan back as part of my team”.

“I haven’t got a number”, he added. I’m going to try to improve my return game, improve my serve, improve my efficiency coming forward.

“I put myself in a position all of the time in these events to win them”. “And having won here again, it gives me a big lift, hopefully through to the end of this year and beyond, that I can win some more Slams”. “I’ll give it my best shot to do that”.
