Murray: Surviving Kyrgios first-set serve was key
He needed just 24 minutes to reach the quarter-finals for the fourth time after compatriot Richard Gasquet quit their fourth round match with a back injury.

The other two matches on Wednesday are being played on Court 1, with Djokovic’s conqueror Sam Querrey up first against Milos Raonic before Tomas Berdych takes on Lucas Poille later.
Murray’s progression through this stage of the tournament has been relatively easy.
“It’s about finding the right people to help you with different things”, Murray said after his brutal 7-5 6-1 6-4 win.
Kyrgios, indeed, sounded like a lost soul after the 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 beating from the world No.2, dressed all in black, his mood similarly dark.
Murray, who has now beaten Kyrgios at all four grand slams over the past 18 months while conceding just one set, didn’t win his first grand slam title under he was 25 and said time was on the Australian’s side.
Murray is set to confirm tomorrow he will play in the Davis Cup tie against Serbia next week.
“But you can apply yourself to every single point and fight for every point, don’t give up any cheap games or anything like that”. “He’s only human. At the same time he’s a great player”, Kyrgios told reporters. Doesn’t play with as much sort of slice, and doesn’t come forward. “Has performed well in those situations before”. I keep saying that Murray is playing some of the best tennis of his career at the moment, and he continues to take his game to another level.
Murray said Kyrgios would learn to handle the media better over time.
Kyrgios saved two match points at 3-5 but he was never going to save the match.
“As soon as I lost the first set, I just lost belief”. I feel like I know what to do but it’s hard to actually go out there and execute against such a player like him. He’s practically a brick wall from the back.
The Australian, who described his performance after the first set as “pretty pathetic”, has now – in common with a multitude of Britons – hitched his wagon to the Murray camp.
“So I need to make sure I have a good practice, stay focused on that one”.
“Give credit to Murray because he has gotten into his head and it doesn’t look like Kyrgios wants to be out there”.
The second seed will be desperate to win Wimbledon this year and he sees this as a big opportunity to get his hands on the trophy once more as Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka have crashed out of the draw.
Murray was touting Kyrgios’ talent even before his stunning run to the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2014 and victory over Rafael Nadal.
Murray will face swashbuckling Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the 12th seed, in the quarterfinals.

By the end Kyrgios looked utterly downcast, having been bewildered by the variety of his opponent’s game as Murray mixed crunching cross-court forehands and thumping backhand winners with delightful variations of pace and spin.
