Murray targets world number one
“I think before, when I won here, I was motivated by the Slams and my results for the rest of the year showed that”. Novak, the same thing. “You still have to have the drive and the dedication to train hard”. “I feel happier this time”.

Following the birth of his son Stefan in October 2014, Djokovic turned into an indestructible force, winning five of the next seven grand slam titles. “I just spent time with my friends and my family and then we’ll go out for dinner tonight as well”.
Lucas Pouille’s run to his first major quarterfinal put him at a career-best No. 21, a rise of nine places.
Since becoming the first British man to win Wimbledon for 77 years in 2013, Murray had been stuck in a rut in the majors, losing three finals and three semi-finals.
Little revealed that a heart-to-heart in the wake of that wounding defeat to Novak Djokovic in the French Open final had paid dividends, with Lendl’s recruitment completed soon afterwards.
“I don’t mind failing”. Murray gave nothing away either, making only 12 unforced errors to Raonic’s 29.
“Hopefully through to the end of this year and beyond I can win some more slams”. I’ve learnt not to be afraid of failing. “I’m learning from all of my losses”.
Catching runaway No 1 Djokovic will be a tough task, though, with the Serb almost 5,000 ranking points ahead with 15,040 to the Scot’s 10,195.
Ivan Lendl, who coached Murray to his previous two slam titles, could be seen weeping soon after the Scot secured victory here.
“But, if I want to add to three slams, I’m going to have to find ways to win against them”.
On Murray’s quest for more majors, Baker believes home advantage offers the best bet, although only Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Andre Agassi (twice) have won Grand Slams in their 30s.
It wound up being one of the best days in British tennis history, with three more titles on top of Murray’s win.
Murray faced just two break points in the two hour 48 minute encounter while 25-year-old Raonic, who had clobbered 137 aces going into the final, managed just eight on Sunday.
Murray led Britain to their first Davis Cup success in 79 years with victory over Belgium in November and the trophy was on display at the Wimbledon Museum during the tournament.
“I spoke to Leon last night at the ball briefly”, the world number two told a victory press conference at the All England Club. I’m genuinely calling him after here.
“Last time it was just pure relief, and I didn’t really enjoy the moment as much, whereas I’m going to make sure I enjoy this one more than the others”.
“I’m going to work on everything. He was flying there this morning”.
But having that title in his pocket, Murray says that this title was more for himself, which might explain why he was able to more freely emote after the deed had been done.

While he is still a long way behind the top-ranked Djokovic in the rankings, Murray is eyeing number one.
