Muslims condemn ISIS and the Paris attacks

Organizations representing Muslim people in the Netherlands and around the world denounced terrorist attacks in Paris that left over 120 people dead and nearly 100 people in critical condition.

Although the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) is made up of fellow Islam followers, many Muslims insist they also hate the terror organization because they, too, are victims of the jihadists.

The good people of Lille however, were not in the mood for such a display of hatred so soon after the horror of ISIS’ attacks in Paris.

“This event was a platform to condemn all the activities of the few “so called” Muslims, which were terrorising the world peace and to expose their atrocities by revealing the true attractive teachings of Islam as found in the Holy Koran and the peaceful practices of the founder of Islam the Prophet Muhammad”.

The terrorist attacks that took place in Paris on November 13 are the second such attacks in less than a year.

“And such extremist views and interpretations of religion can, and sadly usually does, lead to behaviour and acts of terrorism… out on a rampage to destroy others who are different from them”, she wrote.

“These acts are purely aimed at dividing and disrupting peace within otherwise harmonious communities”, they said. Muslim clerics and community leaders whom TODAY spoke to largely agreed with
Mr Sulaiman’s view that Muslims are at the frontline of the battle of the minds.

“Muslims, scholars and laypersons the world over have, do, and will continue to condemn these and any extremists that use Islam to justify their actions”, they said.

The Illawarra Islamic society – which encompasses more than seven mosques in the region – said the Muslim community was united in its response. At the same time, a few of those countries, in particular Saudi Arabia, spend enormous money promoting conservative versions of Sunni Islam that are believed to help breed extremism. One attacker has been confirmed as a refugee who entered Paris via Greece.

“Islam is against terrorism and the most horrendous part of terrorism is killing innocent people”.

Dozens gathered outside the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo for that vigil. Muslims there said that they stand with the rest of the world against ISIS
