Myanmar has undergone a dramatic political transformation since 2011 after nearly a half-century of isolation under a military junta.
Fortune Magazine stated that Suu Kyi, daughter of General Aung San, independence leader, led the country from military dictatorship to democracy after the junta subjected her to house arrest for almost 20 years.
While he emphasised the importance of unity among the military, the government and the people, he acknowledged the reality of economic and political reforms in the country, and that the military must take the initiative in pursuing multi-party democracy. In addition, the military’s choice for vice president, Myint Swe, a former general and chief minister of Yangon, was seen as a blow to Suu Kyi’s strident messages against corruption and human rights abuses. As the leader of the winning party, she should have had the top job, but the Constitution bars her from presidency because her sons hold British passports. Nobody can tell now when Myanmar’s generals will give up their power stake in parliament, but it will happen in a shorter time; Indonesian generals took six years, Myanmar’s general can take ten years, so it may be happened within the lifetime of Suu Kyi, because the old generals of Myanmar are thinking, enough is enough they should quit now from politics. Both are said to have fake degrees from American universities, one of these allegedly a Pakistani scam.
“As long as the military is not ready to amend (article) 59(f) (barring Ms Suu Kyi from becoming president) or 436, it is very important for him to learn everything and to become a true leader of the country, especially the result-oriented leadership”. How many changes are likely to see, and what kind of change will be.’ It is not only the questions of the Myanmar’s civil society but also the questions of all over the world, mostly its neighbors. Suu Kyi made a wealthy businessman, the vice chairman of the Mon National Party, as a minister of her newly created ethnic affairs ministry.

The statement was supposedly made by Suu Kyi after her interview with the BBC’s Mishal Husain, herself a Muslim, in 2013. The Indonesians behind the e-petition complained about an allegedly Muslim-remark in her interview with the BBC. It, in fact, consolidated cooperation between China and Myanmar to aid and abet separatists in India’s Northeast. Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Myanmar in 2012. But New Delhi has been fighting back under the Rao doctrine, with extension of aid and soft credit to the tune $2 billion, according the Indian Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhaya, and trade rising to $2.5 billion in the current financial year. Only time will tell how that factor will play out.
