Mylan offers discounts on EpiPen after Clinton criticism
Since then, the price has increased drastically each year, culminating in the recent announcement that the EpiPen would now be sold for over $500.

The list price of the drug will remain the same, but the company says some out of pocket costs will now be reduced.
Clinton on Wednesday, Aug. 24, called on Mylan to voluntarily drop the price of EpiPen.
Joining scores of people outraged over the price hike of the EpiPen, Sarah Jessica Parker will no longer be associated with the drugmaker who manufactures it.
In 2007 when Mylan acquired the EpiPen auto-injector product, the cost was about $100.
On Aug. 25, Mylan announced that it would help alleviate the outrageous out-of-pocket cost of EpiPens by providing patients with a $300 savings card, which would cover half the cost of a two-pack, Reuters reports.
The company said it is also doubling the eligibility for its patient assistance program, which will eliminate out-of-pocket costs for uninsured and underinsured patients and families.
Bresch stated that she had no problem with a company that could do good and do well meaning that Mylan did good for people who had serious ailments and did financially well for investors and for Bresch.
“She has several, actually they’re environmental allergies”, Ford said.
Bresch is also the daughter of Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia. “It’s not to make insurers pay unreasonable prices, which are of course passed on to consumers at the end of the day anyway”.
Rivera and his wife always carry an EpiPen while two others stay at their son’s school.
Bresch and the company successfully pushed legislation to encourage use of the EpiPen in schools nationwide before the latest price hike, effectively putting taxpayers on the hook for the bill. CNBC notes that numerous countries there have government-run health-care systems that limit drug prices charged by manufacturers, unlike the U.S.
“No one is more frustrated than me”, Bresch told CNBC “Squawk Box” on Thursday when asked to explain the exorbitant price increase and why Mylan can’t cut the price of the drug.

“There’s still a really large balance remaining for the patient unfortunately on something that used to cost only $100”, said Lauren Cline, a pharmacist at the Drug Emporium.
