Myles Jack Calls Draft Slide ‘Humiliating’

The two standout linebackers, both dogged by knee issues, were among the first five players taken in the second round Friday, with Notre Dame’s Smith going 34th overall to the Cowboys and UCLA’s Jack going two spots later to the Jaguars.

The Baltimore Ravens were looking to take Tunsil with the No. 6 overall pick until the video surfaced.

Thanks to a stat correction in mid-December, Jamaal Jones surpassed Marc Mariani’s all-time receiving yardage total with 3,021 in three seasons of play.

Not done in the second round, Jacksonville selected Maryland LB, Yannick Ngakoue who is a 6-foot-2, 250 lb guy that looks like a thumper in the middle.

“Bottom line is I’m ready to go”, Jack said. “I’m ready to play ball”.

Teams weren’t rushing to get Tunsil, who spent the bulk of the pre-draft process as the No. 1 player on NFLDraftScout.com analyst Rob Rang’s board and was selected 13th by the Miami Dolphins. The team passed on players like Reed and Mackensie Alexander for Thomas, a good-not-great prospect at a position where the Saints already have a few good options for Drew Brees next year.

Smith said he has resumed running in recent weeks. “You have to be patient”.

“I wanted to get picked”, Holmes said.

The selection of Holmes immediately followed another of the more intriguing picks of day three as German wide receiver prospect Moritz Boehringer saw his dream come true.

“He’s a good football player, and I think that was evident in winning the Heisman Trophy, ” Titans general manager Jon Robinson said of Henry.

Smith was last year’ Dick Butkus Award victor as the country’s best linebacker after putting together his second straight season with 100-plus tackles. Enough for them to move up from 15 to eight and select tackle Jack Conklin while retaining their two extra round two picks.

The injury in the Fiesta Bowl was devastating, as he was injured on a block by Ohio State tackle Taylor Decker. But one reason Dallas is confident Smith can make a full recovery is because the surgery was performed by Cowboys team physician Dr. Dan Cooper.

Linebackers Jaylon Smith and Myles Jack did not have to wait long to hear their names called Friday night.

Jack told The Detroit Free Press on Thursday that he was not a candidate for microfracture surgery, contrary to a report in the New York Post. “I think the Draft picks by the team this year have been brilliant and I can’t wait to see them come and play in London in October!”

“We’ve had conversations about Myles Jack for many months now, just really intrigued by his skill set and how he plays the game”, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said.

“We want to be great”, Caldwell said.

If Jack returns to form, the Jaguars could have the steal of the draft.

“You never know if there’s anything wrong with him, but as far as we’re concerned, there’s not”, Caldwell said, before adding that “with any player, there’s a risk”.

Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo went to Tampa Bay at No59.

One of the most dramatic drafts in National Football League history wrapped Saturday with the team that started the spectacle ahead of schedule by trading the No. 1 overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams two weeks earlier.
