Mysore Maharaja Yaduveer Krishnadatta gets married to Rajasthani royal

The titular head of the Wodeyar dynasty, Yaduveer Chamraja Krishnadatta Wodeyar, married Trishika Kumari from the erstwhile Dungarpur dynasty of Rajasthan.

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar is a 24-years-old bachelor who will marry Trishika Kumari, she is from the Noble royal family of Dungarpur in Rajasthan.

The marriage itself is set to take place on June 27 at the kalyana mandapa of the Amba Vilas Palace at the karkataka lagna and savitra mahurat time between 9.05 am and 9.35 am. All the rituals that are to be done before the marriage have started a few days back i.e., on 24 June.

As per customs, the rituals were held in Mysore Palace in the presence of Pramoda Devi, the Queen mother and other family elders.

Yaduveer, the 27th “King” of Wodeyar dynasty was adopted by Pramoda Devi Wodeyar, after the death of her husband and the last descendant of the family, Srikanta Datta Narasimha Raja Wodeyar in February past year. Kannada news channels blew up the event and exaggerated the rituals related with the wedding. It’s a ritual unique to the Mysuru royal family, one that Yaduveer too followed on Monday. Sources in the royal family revealed that Yaduveer was engaged to Trishika much before his adoption as the scion of the royal family. In accordance to the same, after the death of Srikanta Datta Narasimha Raja Wodeyar, Yaduveer was adopted by the royal family as the successor in a special ceremony. There was a small pooja [religious ritual] for the bride before the wedding ceremony began.

The spread of 26 dishes, which included pheni, laddoos, badam milk, shavige payasa, chilli bajjis, ambodes, akki roti, kai tomato, yennegai gojju, channa masala, batura, and bisibele bath served with ghee and boondi, grapes gojju, mango chutney, thindora fry, beans palya, hesarubele and kosambari, was served on plantain leaf along with ice cream filled into mangoes hollowed by removal of their pulp. The ceremony will be provided accompaniment by the classical violinist Mysore Brothers Nagaraj and Manjunath.

The couple will go on a procession on June 29 in a decorated motorcade within the palace precincts for public viewing. The first reception of the couple will be held at Mysore Palace tomorrow i.e., on June 28, while the second reception will be hosted at the Bangalore Palace in the next month which is dated on July 2.
