Following just a point from their opening two games the pressure was growing on the Gunners, whilst Watford manager Walter Mazzarri was also seeking his first three points of his Premier League career.

ARSENE WENGER, Arsenal manager, on getting their first win of the season.

Arsenal finally secured their first win of the season against Watford, a solid victory of 3-1 and the imminent arrival of two new signings has improved the overall atmosphere amongst the fans.

This was the first league game at Vicarage Road that Watford have conceded three goals in the first half since December 2007 v QPR.

Having withstood that pressure, the visitors took control and more of their trademark hypnotic passing nearly carved out a second. But of course we need him.

“Eden Hazard must be this decisive in every game and I’m pleased because I saw it today”.

“We paid a heavy price in our first game (the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool) because we were not ready, we had not the players back at home”.

Time will tell as to whether or not Wenger has brought in two players capable of making a significant impact, as ultimately he’ll want to be judged at the end of the season and if it ends without silverware again, then the calls for him to go will naturally grow even louder.

But Arsenal looked sharper this time around and, with the signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez imminent, they are in better shape heading into the worldwide break.

The pressure had been on Wenger and his side heading into the weekend after ideal starts from both Manchester clubs had left them playing catch-up.

This, then, was just the performance and outcome required before the Gunners head into the global break. Exhale, we have our first win.

“I believe he has a good mixture of short and long balls, in midfield it is important for us to sometimes stretch the defenders”, Wenger continued.

“We had a good cushion at halftime”, Wenger added. “I try to make the decision”, Wenger said.

“They’ve had medicals and we have to finish the paperwork”.

The Frenchman explained: “This season I thought we had the most easy transfer window ever because we knew what we wanted and who we wanted and it didn’t come off, so you have to restart”.

“We are working and the results will come. Everybody else will do the same, so we will try to do our best”.
