Namibia wicketkeeper-batsman Raymond van Schoor has died in Windhoek at age 25 five days after suffering a stroke during a match.

Van Schoor could also bowl medium-pace and played in Namibia’s World Twenty20 Qualifier campaign earlier this year.
“It is with deep regret and sorrow that I announce the passing of Raymond van Schoor at 19h17 Namibian time on Friday the 20th November 2015”, said Frankle.
In over 200 matches – the most – for Namibia, Raymond has scored more than 8000 runs. He was initially “critical but stable” but his condition “deteriorated” on Friday morning, and he passed away later in the evening.
All cricketers involved in CSA Provincial today wore black armbands and observed a minute’s silence before the start of play as a mark of respect as well as to show solidarity with their Namibian colleagues. ‘He was taken far too early from us. “May his soul rest in peace”, said Richard Frankle, president of Cricket Nambia in a statement on Facebook.
Van Schoor, one of the youngest players to play for Namibia, made his debut at the age of 17 in 2007, and went on to play 92 First Class matches, with an average of 27.40 and a career-best 157, scored against Bermuda in 2010.
Raymond was the son of Melt van Schoor, who has played five One-Day Internationals for Namibia.
On Sunday, van Schoor had been batting during Namibia’s five-wicket win over Free State when he collapsed in the hot conditions.
