Nancy Pelosi backs California’s legal pot proposition
Voters in five states will decide whether or not to allow recreational marijuana use and voters in the other four are considering medical marijuana use. Washington has collected almost $70 million in taxes related to marijuana and expects to see more than $1 billion in the next four years, according to Bloomberg.

Armen Yemenidjian, president and CEO of the three Essence Cannabis Dispensaries in the Las Vegas Valley, is ready for the change. “It’s time to regulate marijuana for adults in California”, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom has said. “In terms of soda and drinks and food and desserts and all the rest, candies… we’ve never seen anything like that in the market we’re in right now”, Baker said. “No doubt about it”. It’s another to support the irresponsible drafting of this ballot question which is reason alone to vote “no”.
“I’m participating in a legal, authorized, state approved industry”, he said.
“Our existing marijuana laws basically incentivize drug dealers and cartels to sell marijuana to whoever will take it”. He said the commission would not be able to outright ban edible products.
As a final note, this issue is about more than simply medical or recreational marijuana. “So there won’t be too much transition required in that regard”. The city passed an ordinance to allow for growing and processing businesses to legally operate. A recent TV ad features a female doctor who says that “patients and doctors agree” that legalizing marijuana would be a good thing, but again, this is not the truth.
But some parents are anxious, since research shows marijuana is bad for the developing brain. “The grow would be held under lock and key”, he said.
“We’ve come this far as a state and there’s no turning back now”, he said. Arizona, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada are also voting on measures that would make the drug legal to possess and use in small amounts for people over 21.
Writing on behalf of the convention’s State Board of Missions in late September, Green said the board empathizes with those suffering from debilitating diseases but does not “believe legalizing an addictive drug without strong regulatory oversight is an appropriate solution”. Local cities and towns that elect to stay dry are welcome to do so, as with alcohol. Furthermore, nine percent of those who use marijuana will develop a marijuana use disorder. “We want to pull these guys out of the hills”. If the marijuana experiment has been such a disaster in Colorado and Washington, why would anyone consider making the same mistake here?
Segerblom hopes a proactive state Legislature in 2017 will prevent the same result with recreational marijuana. “We don’t want that”.
Health benefits remain questionable.
There are a slew of other problems with the 25-page ballot question.
California, which legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes 20 years ago, is days away from legalizing the plant for recreation use, according to two new surveys.
Massachusetts’ top law enforcement official went on the offensive Thursday against the legalization of recreational pot, arguing that the marijuana industry would resist curbs on the potency of its products and “always put profits ahead of people”.
California: Proposition 62 would effectively repeal the state’s death penalty statute.
Although the issue won’t be on the IL ballot this November, The Phoenix wanted to know: What are the opinions surrounding recreational marijuana use?
“I think that if someone is using marijuana a little bit in the evenings after work is done and their responsibilities are over, in those situations, I think marijuana is probably potentially completely safe, if you have someone who’s old enough that their brain’s finished developing”, said J. Wesley Boyd, a psychiatrist in private practice, at a press conference outside the Statehouse. It is not taxed in the same way as recreational marijuana will be.
When people are free to indulge in the personal behavior of ingesting a substance – as they can with alcohol – they will naturally choose to do so through the legal market, even if it means having to pay exorbitant taxes. By 2020, cannabis is expected to bring in more tax revenue than cigarettes.
