Nancy Reagan, former US first lady, dies at 94

Nancy Reagan, the former First Lady and widow or President Ronald Reagan has passed away at the age of 94.

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney says Nancy Reagan, who died Sunday, wielded more power in the Republican White House of husband Ronald Reagan than most people realize.

“While she didn’t speak out publicly, there was little of influence that went by in the White House in America that she did not talk to him privately about”, the former Progressive Conservative leader said of Mrs. Reagan.

She met her husband Ronald Reagan while he was president of the Screen Actors Guild, to seek advice about being named in a Communist publication.

Mrs. Reagan had invited Brown to give the keynote speech at the 100th birthday memorial for her husband five years ago.

Her best-known project as first lady was the “just say no” campaign to help kids and teens stay off drugs.

President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama offered condolences Sunday to the Reagan family.

Several media outlets reported the wife of former Republican president Ronald Reagan died of congestive heart failure, according to her spokeswoman Joanne Drake of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. “We believe in servant leadership, and Nancy Reagan is a role model servant leader”.

He was just ten years old at the time.

Following her husband’s death from Alzheimer’s in 2004, she raised millions of dollars for research into the disease and became a champion for sufferers.

“And we remain grateful for Nancy Reagan’s life, thankful for her guidance, and prayerful that she and her beloved husband are together again”, the Obamas said.

“She used to call me nearly daily at night because she was anxious about what was going on in New Hampshire”, said Carmen.

Ronald Reagan served as governor from 1967-1975.

Top New York political voices remembered Reagan as “a great first lady” and “gracious and fearless”.

“Even after President Reagan’s passing, Nancy Reagan did not retreat from public service”.

Mrs. Reagan portrayed herself as a contented wife who had willingly given up a Hollywood acting career of her own to devote herself to her husbands career. She says she’ll always remember her as a role model. “I think she always carried herself well in public”. “George and I send our prayers and condolences to her family”, she said in a statement.
