NASA Planning To Develop Smartwatch App for Astronauts in Space

To help guide designers, Nasa attached some low resolution images of the kinds of displays astronauts aboard the ISS are working with today.

The project, named “Veg-01”, has produced a crop of “Outredgeous” red romaine lettuce.

“Footage of a glowing light hovering over the worldwide Space Station (ISS) has reignited fears that aliens are keeping their eyes on us”, sputnik news said.

The NASA astronauts used the LED-powered area green-house titled “Veggie” for their own first ever food products placing try new combinations, VEG-1.

Dr Ray Wheeler, lead for advanced life support activities at the Exploration Research and Technology Programs Office, added: “There is evidence that supports fresh foods, such as tomatoes, blueberries and red lettuce are a good source of antioxidants”. Presently, astronauts aboard ISS use laptops and iPads to look at their tasks each day, but the smartwatch app should be built to display a timeline of current, past and future tasks, NTL said.

The app is required to show the status of audio/video communication between the vehicle and the ground station.

According to CNET, NASA’s astronauts are now in the habit of wearing manual-wind Omega Speedmaster watches, useful for their counter and stopwatch functions.

Provide appropriate feedback to actions: Be legible on the smaller Samsung Gear screen – innovative representations of data displayed on a smartwatch are highly encouraged. In May NASA announced its “Journey to Mars Challenge”, which asked the general public to come up with ways to keep Martian astronauts safe while needing limited resupplies from Earth.
