NASCAR Bristol night race postponed until Sunday afternoon

After just 38 laps, the race was halted as rain, somewhat heavy at times, hit the half-mile track.

Tony Stewart was honored by fans at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Be sure that you know all of the important race information; like when it starts, what channel it’s on and where to find live race streams.

Teams were not allowed to work on their cars overnight, so there will doubtless be a flurry of adjustments once the race gets rolling today.

After a red-flag period of 1 hour, 24 minutes, 4 seconds, during which track drying was completed, Busch led the field for 10 more laps under caution, but another hard rain hit the track before the race could restart.

As rain continues to fall at Bristol Motor Speedway this afternoon, there is a sense that tonight’s Sprint Car event could be washed away. Denny Hamlin said he’d never seen a track change as much in as short a period as Bristol did last night.

Pole-sitter Carl Edwards, the victor at the track in the spring, led a top five qualifying filled with Joe Gibbs Racing racers.

The decision to postpone the race was made a little before 10:30pm.
