Last night’s episode was no exception: Juliette, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in a Patsy Cline biopic, leaves the Oscar ceremony to take a flight back to Nashville to be with her baby and Avery. Instead, they faced the music.

The “Nashville” series finale was exciting but is it really the end? Now that was a season finale.
While he’s “always anxious about disappointing fans”, Beggs truly doesn’t feel that Wednesday’s episode isNashville’s final word. And at the Oscars later, Juliette is so disgusted with herself – “I’m a frightful person and these people worship me” – she made a decision to open up, honestly for once, and told a reporter the truth. Then when I caught up, I was much less sad about the series cancellation than I had been.

Charles Esten’s Deacon also seems to finally have learned his lesson, as he realizes that Rayna’s Huffington Post piece could hurt the sleazebag who raped his wife more than his fists ever could.
In a sneak peek, a clearly shocked Juliette, played by Hayden Panettiere, is confronted by paparazzi about the death of her manager, and it looks like she may finally be taking responsibility for what happened that night. She wanted to be with Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and their daughter. These were brief highlights, but at least there were some bright spots. We couldn’t have a goodbye playlist without Avery breaking our hearts one more time.
But this is the show that ended Season 1 with the series’ one true pairing in a potentially fatal vehicle crash, threw Kate Hudson’s brother off a roof in Season 4, and nearly drowned that girl from “Jem and the Holograms” in a swimming pool in a mid-season finale. Scarlett and the magical homeless person.
“Nashville” producers don’t mean to leave anyone hanging, but they’re banking that the finale will earn the show an encore on another platform.
But maybe even more importantly, the show authentically captured and showed off the intricacies of the city’s very serious music scene – and became a high-profile outlet for songs from local songwriters.
“I’m sure we would figure out a satisfying way for audiences to see an alternative ending – but it won’t be as good as the ending we have given them”, Beggs said. This is especially troubling since so many of our beloved country singers’ storylines have been in such disarray as of late.
In the end, all was restored for Rayna, Deacon, Maddie and Daphne.
Nashville’s finale Maybe You’ll Appreciate Me aired in the USA on May 25. Jeff Fordham had his reasons for all his machinations, and was hilariously smarmy about them.
