Nassib stumbles in start for Manning, Dolphins win 27-10
Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo was named Coughlin’s replacement, probably thanks to an endorsement from Eli Manning. Damien Williams meanwhile put a rushing touchdown on the board.

While there’s little to take away from the result of any preseason game, no less the opening weekend when the starters only stick around for a series or two, perhaps a bigger issue arose in a potential backup battle for Big Blue. Miami’s QB Ryan Tannehill went for 2 of 4 for eight yards; Matt Moore was 10 of 14 for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Nassib was consistent in leading the Giants on a game-opening touchdown drive and cashing in on an interception in staking NY to a 10-point lead.
NY went heavy on defense signing former Dolphins DE Oliver Vernon, ex-Cane CB Janoris Jenkins, CB Leon Hall, and grabbing CB Eli Apple with their 1st round pick.
Dolphins: Franks woke up the Dolphins’ offense with a 49-yard field goal in the second quarter.
Goodson finished the contest against the Miami Dolphins with six solo tackles, including two for loss.
Nassib got the start last night and while he began the game strong, it didn’t end that way.
Prime time players: Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. combined for seven catches, 166 yards and two touchdowns in prime time last season against Miami.
The Dolphins had safety Shamiel Gary (neck), defensive end Julius Warmsley (concussion) and receiver Jakeem Grant (ribs) get nicked. The most notable injury heading into the preseason opener was the groin injury of Victor Cruz. The Giants are set to return to practice Sunday, so any progress made by Cruz will be judged then.
Both players talked in the locker room after the game and expressed relief that the injuries were minor.
“Geremy Davis doesn’t look like he’s going to practice tomorrow but has a mild strain”, McAdoo added. “To go out and have an opportunity to go against a fresh team – a fresh defense – and really test ourselves is going to be a lot of fun”.

The Dolphins head into this season with some new faces and a ton of pressure on the shoulders of starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill who has shown signs of brilliance but is at a critical juncture in his career. “We have a lot to work on, but the turnovers are unacceptable”. “You just take what you can from the bad experiences and try not to make those mistakes again in the future”.
