The singer-songwriter died on Thursday, December 31 in a Los Angeles hospital due to “complications from ongoing health issues”, her publicist Maureen O’Connor confirmed, said The Hollywood Reporter. Her top-selling album was the 1991 record Unforgettable… with Love, in which Cole paid tribute to her father’s biggest hits.
In 2009, Cole received a kidney transplant after she developed hepatitis, notes NBC News. She started out singing in clubs where, on at least one occasion, she was advertised on the marquee as her father’s daughter.
Natalie Cole, Grammy-winning R&B and jazz singer, has died at the age of 65 of congestive heart failure. “She was always sweet, always wanted to please and was just so nice”.
Cole is survived by her 38-year-old son Robert Adam Yancy.
Inspired by her dad at an early age, she began her career as an R&B singer.
She continued: “My twin sister Timolin and I were with Natalie at Christmas time as a family”. He wrote about the long friendship that he had with not only Natalie, but also with her father and her entire family.
She struggled with substance abuse over the years and was plagued with health problems, suffering from liver disease in 2008. When told by residents who said they didn’t want “undesirable people” in the area, the singer said, “Neither do I, and if I see (any), I’ll be the first to complain”.
While he’ll hold onto that memory- her legion of fans say that makes her recording even more precious.
After the huge success of the break-through single, “This Will Be”, she went on to have five hit singles, three gold albums, three Grammy awards and a Rock Award in the space of just two years – a remarkable achievement. “Lovely song bird (and great actress too) – she is now singing in heaven”.
She was also nominated for an Emmy award in 1992 for a televised performance of her father’s songs.
When she came out of the life-saving surgery, she learned that her sister Cookie, who had been battling lung cancer, had died. Additionally, she released three live albums, in which one ranked gold in the United States. She expressed her gratitude for their support and said, “I love you all”, her family told the Daily Mail.
At the time of her death, Ms. Cole had four concerts on the east coast already scheduled for 2016.

Ms. Cole said that she regarded the songs on “Unforgettable: With Love” as “a gift from my father”. Cole battled an addiction to heroine and crack and spent six months in rehab in 1983. She conveyed how precious and fragile time is in the lives of humankind.
