Nate Ebner adds Olympic appearance to bucket list
Ebner scored the second of USA Rugby’s tries in their pool play encounter with host nation Brazil on Monday night. Ebner made history earlier in the day, when he became the first active National Football League player to compete in the Summer Olympics in the US team’s 17-14 loss to Argentina.

Argentina scored a try in injury time to erase a 14-12 US lead.
In the meantime, Patriots coach Invoice Belichick, who awaits the return of his particular groups standout, wore an Ebner rugby jersey to New England’s coaching camp follow the identical day.
United States’s Danny Barrett, left, jumps for the ball as Fiji’s Viliame Mata, challenges during the men’s rugby sevens match at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. “We have a good team here, three years ahead of schedule, but we were hoping – and we set our standards – to be in the main competition come the end of today”.
Team USA didn’t get a medal, but Ebner called it a “once in a lifetime wonderful experience”.
Last night, Ryan Seacrest invited USA women’s rugby sevens player Jillion Potter to teach actor Matthew McConaughey the basics of rugby sevens. Now he’s making up for lost time in a big way. “I appreciate it”, he said. “I think it’s just cool, it gives us an opportunity to not only support Nate and his hard work, but also support our country”. Despite being down a man, Fiji scored a try on the final play of the first half to go into halftime leading 12-7. “I catch myself watching table tennis and windsurfing and I didn’t even know those were events”. “I can only imagine people who haven’t seen [rugby], it’s got to be exciting to watch”.
