Nation turns back clocks for Daylight Saving

Halloween celebrants can enjoy an extra hour of fun Saturday night thanks to the switchover to standard time. The battery- changing ritual should include checking that the device has not passed an expiration date, and clearing dust from slots or sensors.

Some, however, argue the shift does little except make people grumpy when clocks “spring forward” and they lose an hour of sleep.

Daylight saving time returns at 2 a.m. local time the second Sunday in March – March 13 next year.

Public safety officials say it’s a good time to put a new battery in the smoke alarm, no matter where you live. Multi-level homes should have at least one smoke detector on each floor.

When the clock strikes 2 tomorrow morning day light saving time will come to an end and clocks will need to be set back an hour.
