Neither Panama nor Hritik Roshan were on anybody’s mind as photographers and journalists jostled with each other to get a sound bite from Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut, both of whom got national awards for their roles in “Piku” and ‘Tanu weds Manu, ‘ respectively.
Shriram Iyengar, Saloni Dhatrak and Sujeet Sawant won for the movie’s production design.
While Salman Khan-starrer “Bajrangi Baijaan” was bestowed upon by the Best Popular Film honour.
Kangana Ranaut receives the National Award for Best Actress, for her work in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, from President Pranab Mukherjee. Masaan producer Vikramaditya Motwane (far left) and Piku writer Juhi Chaturvedi (behind Khan) are also visible in this picture.
Hinting at the stir, the President also spoke of the importance of films in context of variety and diversity of India and the important role it played in unifying the nation. He previously won in 1990 (‘Agneepath’), 2005 (‘Black’) and 2009 (‘Paa’). Kangana teamed her gown with a classic bob, which is similar to the look she will be seen sporting in her upcoming film Rangoon.
It was Bollywood touch in music as well.
Sharat Katariya’s debut “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, a ’90s set drama in Haridwar about the romance between a mismatched couple, won the best Hindi film. “The film is very special to me”.
