The Dallas Mavericks were again forced to the fringes of National Basketball Association free agency this year, and their biggest move was signing small forward Harrison Barnes to a four-year, $94 million deal.
Center Andrew Bogut is heading to the Dallas Mavericks via trade and coming with him is forward Harrison Barnes who was offered a max deal.
Joining Bogut in the Mavericks lineup is teammate Harrison Barnes, who according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical will be an unrestricted free agent as well after the Warriors renounce his rights as well.
At 24 years of age, Barnes has an impressive resume, ‘ consisting of winning an NBA championship, going to back-to-back NBA Finals and having the chance to win a gold medal in the upcoming summer Olympics in Rio.
The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the two teams were close to an agreement Monday afternoon, shortly after Kevin Durant announced his decision to sign with the Warriors.
Barnes, who was drafted by the Warriors No. 7 overall in 2012, averaged a career-high 11.7 points per game past year, to go along with 4.9 rebounds.
“Not really feeling too much pressure more so just excited to get there and work-the west is very tough so we will have to come together quickly and be prepared to battle”.
Overall, Kevin Durant signing with the team restricted the Warriors signing three peaces on their bench.
Barnes brings scoring punch and versatility to the wing.
Last year, Barnes averaged 11.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game. Durant’s deal is set to be worth $54.3 million with a player option after the first year.
“It’s a great honor to play next to two shooters with the capabilities of Steph and Klay”, Bogut said in a promotional question-and-answer session on Twitter this month.

“Though the team firmly believes Bogut’s value is only partially reflected in his individual statistics, his numbers were nonetheless unkind, particularly as related to rebounds – which became an increasingly higher priority as the Warriors continued their march through the postseason”. He has averaged 15.5 points and 5.9 assists in 460 games.
