National Basketball Association unveils 2016-17 schedule

The TNT nightcap features Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors squaring off against the Tim Duncan-less San Antonio Spurs at Oracle Arena. Several local channels, domestic and worldwide, are also set to cover the hottest league in the planet, as well as live streaming via licensed platforms. Including the now-confirmed rumor that both squads will face off on Christmas as well as three appearances on ABC’s Saturday Night Series.

The league’s 71 season tips off Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, and concludes Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

Golden State Warriors are also set to appear 28 times during the regular season in National TV. Durant came to the Warriors from the Oklahoma City Thunder, and though the Warriors don’t release details because of team policy, it’s reported to be a two-year maximum contract worth $54.3 million that includes a player option after the first year that would allow Durant to boost his salary further. The exposure is mainly attributed to Kevin Durant who made any Warriors game an instant hit in ratings.

The season opens on October 25 with three games, headlined by reigning champions the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the New York Knicks.

The NBA released schedules for all 30 teams on Thursday afternoon, and it appears the Oklahoma City Thunder will kick off its 2016-17 campaign in Philadelphia on October 26 when they take on the Sixers.

Durant’s departure stunned the high-energy Thunder fans and his return to Oklahoma City is easily the highlight of the National Basketball Association schedule released on Thursday. It’s the first time since 2007-08 that the Warriors have not had a trip longer than five games. Again, thanks to super scorer KD running with Oklahoma.
