As far as programming goes, the National Dog Show is a great way to transition within your viewing for your Thanksgiving day, seeing as it airs immediately after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, also one of the hits to watch on television during one of our greatest holidays.

An encore presentation will air on NBC in primetime on Friday, Nov. 27, from 8 – 10 p.m. ET. This year’s show actually took place a week ago at the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, but as has become tradition, it will broadcast on a tape delay on Thanksgiving afternoon.

Dogs will be judged in three rounds – best of breed, best of group and the ultimate award, best in show.

“These dogs can be centuries and centuries old”.

The widely popular National Dog Show is back. “Every breed had a specific quality and that’s what these shows do is to celebrate the history of the dogs and they keep the breed alive, along with the functions of the breed”. The actor will be be joined by David Frei, an expert purebred analyst from USA Network’s Westminster Kennel Club, and NBC sportscaster Mary Carillo, who will provide reporting from the benching area and inside the ring with the dogs. And standout Olympic broadcasters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski will serve as reporters and digital contributors. “Benched” format means that the show is open to the public and the canines are on display all day long so that attendees of all ages can see the dogs up close and meet their owners.
