National Football League admits to missing call on Cam Newton hit
The NFL has weighed in on an uncalled helmet to helmet hit by Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall.

“I’m beginning to question the consistency of how games are being called”, Cecil told ESPN Friday.
If you missed that, then you might have missed that coach Ron Rivera wasn’t overly concerned about it. “I think that’s our moment”.
Yet the Broncos drew only one penalty for those hits, a fact that surprised many observers – including Cecil Newton, the quarterback’s father.
Ward said that every time Newton left the pocket and was a runner, “we tried to put helmet and shoulder pads on him”. I don’t think there’s a racial component here, just an unintentional thought that Newton can take the hits because of his physicality. “But it’s not fun to get hit in the head”. “What are you supposed to tell defenders?”
The Panthers quarterback’s postgame press conference was delayed because he was “getting some treatment”, according to Yahoo.
Newton’s dad Cecil had no qualms about sharing his opinion on the National Football League and the referees in regards to his son’s health and well being. “I lost an endorsement. I know you guys are anticipating so much, and I’m trying my best to keep it together”.
Panthers fans are sure to be angry with this admission.
Newton, who is expected to practice next week as usual, said he doesn’t feel he was hit in the head intentionally.
The league said Panthers team doctor Robert Heyer and an independent neurotrauma consultant requested a replay of the collision from the certified athletic trainers in the spotters’ booth.
Denver’s Darian Stewart has vowed to appeal any fines that might come his way as a result of the Broncos’ Week 1 win over the Panthers.
“I reached for the ball and his head was right there, ” Barrett said.
“I guess they made a judgment that he was OK, so they chose to let him keep going, ” Jets cornerback Buster Skrine told The Post. “I just took the shot, man”. He was also was less effective passing, completing just 7 of 16 passes for 83 yards with an interception after halftime. He kept coming back for more all night, throwing laser passes to convert on third downs and running through the defense for large chunks of yardage. But the loss hurt because everything we did, we geared up to winning this game and now we’ve got to win the next one. “So, that run stuff – you can’t do that all game with your quarterback”. If they are, the matter would have to go to arbitration to decide whether a violation did occur.
But Rivera says he believes some of those hits should have drawn flags, and Newton’s size may be a part of the reason they didn’t.
Cam Newton smiles to the crowd after the Panthers scored in the first quarter against the Broncos on September 8, 2016. I don’t want it to necessarily be because he’s a black quarterback.

Immediately after the game, Newton shrugged off the beatdown he received, saying it wasn’t his job to question the officials. “I had a lot of confidence when I left the meeting (Wednesday) night”. This time, a flag was thrown for the personal foul, but since Newton’s throw did not clear the line of scrimmage, an intentional grounding call was also made, and the personal foul was offset, and the hit was essentially free.
