National Football League executive Troy Vincent accepts blame for Hall of Fame Game field

“This was not the first cancellation of an National Football League exhibition game – the Hall of Game contest was not played in 2011 because of the lockout – but it was the most high-profile preseason match to be called off. How could they not have the field ready?” However, the National Football League now does not plan to discuss moving the August contest out of Canton, Joe Scalzo of the Canton Repository reports.

The Green Bay Packers players cleared the field as workers used a variety of equipment to fix and smooth the artificial surface of the football field. Obviously, it’s a preseason game.

“If something happens to somebody, then it’s like ‘Oh, they shouldn’t have played the game, ‘” Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones said. Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham tore the ACL in his non-kicking knee during the contest and cited the conditions as the reason for his injury that ultimately led to his release by the Steelers.

“The independent field tester, who was not identified, noted in his report that ‘painting was fairly heavy with some crusting on the surface.’ The tester also stated that the crusted paint would ‘break up once the players ran over it several times'”.

It also said it is not responsible for tickets that were not purchased directly from the Hall of Fame. “I think that is why it happened”.

“In 2001, a new artificial surface at Philadelphia’s Veterans Stadium was deemed too risky for the Eagles to play the Ravens”. The substance they were trying to get the paint off with, I can promise you, was not health-conscious at all. “It’s disappointing for the team to come down here and play; very disappointing for our fans”.

Fans who attempted to attend the Hall of Fame Game this past weekend aren’t willing to simply accept the NFL’s ticket refund.

“We are working with the Hall and the field supplier to determine what caused this issue”, National Football League spokesman Brian McCarthy said.

Surfaces are tested for hardness up to 72 hours before each game. And while the league and the Hall spun the cancellation as a “Player Safety” concern and are patting themselves on the backs for making such a decision, many fans in attendance were livid.

Seriously, though, the spin on player safety -See, we treat our players well! – shouldn’t overshadow an embarrassing logistical gaffe on the part of a league that puts on hundreds of events per year.
