There was also a concert on the field on Friday and the enshrinement ceremony on Saturday.

The NFL appears to have a fall guy for the poor conditions in Canton that forced the cancelation of the Hall of Fame Game this past Sunday.

The field in Canton was highly criticized in last year’s contest as well.

Neither the Colts nor the Packers were available for comment on Monday, but both coaches expressed disappointment on Sunday night about the lost opportunity to evaluate, even though four more games remain before the regular season.

“In 2001, a new artificial surface at Philadelphia’s Veterans Stadium was deemed too unsafe for the Eagles to play the Ravens”.

The Hall of Fame Game matchup was announced in February, so it seems like this rush-job could’ve been avoided. Among the eight inductees: Brett Favre, who spent 16 years with the Green Bay Packers; Tony Dungy, who was the first African-American head coach to win a Super Bowl when his Colts defeated the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI; and Marvin Harrison, who played on that Super Bowl-winning team and is considered one of the best receivers in National Football League history. On another note, former Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre did give a moving acceptance speech.

Possibly the National Football League succumbed to the pressure of political correctness concerning itself with domestic violence, drugs, drinking, and partying by taking their eye off the ball.

“While the HOF field situation underscored the challenges in working with third parties, ultimately I am responsible for ensuring the field is of the highest standard”, Vincent wrote.

Sunday’s game was cancelled approximately one hour before kickoff. The painted portions of the field (end zones and center seal) were reportedly like concrete after a painting mishap earlier in the day.

Baker told NFL Media, “We think we could make it playable, that it might be playable now, but if there is any concern, anything in the minds of players, we want to err on the side of player safety”.

“These will be particularly helpful as we evaluate stadiums for future worldwide games”, Vincent noted in what may have been an ominous warning.

The wrong type of paint may have been used on the turf setting off a chain of events that lead to the eventual cancellation of the game
