National Football League officiating head: Odell Beckham Jr. should have been ejected
Irvin said he and Beckham have spoken on the phone every day since the New York Giants wide receiver’s contentious game on Sunday which resulted in a one-game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Josh Norman.

EAST RUTHERFORD ‐ Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had his one-game suspension upheld by the National Football League after an appeal on Wednesday. One for $8,681 (face mask) and one for $17,363 (striking an opponent in the head/neck area).
The NFL heard WR Odell Beckham Jr.’s appeal and upheld his one game suspension for his conduct during the recent game against the Panthers. He was wrong. There was no doubt about it. You’d like that didn’t happen. “For the purposes of this policy, “foreign objects” broadly encompasses any item that is neither intrinsic to the game nor necessary to conduct pregame drills and treat and prepare players for the game”.
The Giants believe Beckham was provoked during pre-game warmups by the Panthers, who may or may not have been trying to send a message with a baseball bat, all dependent on perspective.
The coach said he spoke with Beckham on Monday – before the announcement of his suspension for Sunday’s game against Minnesota – and that Beckham “felt bad” about what he’d done in the game.
“I just pretty much showed people what this guy (Beckham) really is and what he stands for”.
Ball later told the NFL Network, “If I had a dollar for all ex-girlfriends that had false allegations about me…” People expect better from me, and I expect better from myself.
An altercation with Ball was caught on video, but clearly wasn’t an excuse for Beckham conducting himself so wildly during the game. This isn’t about anything that was said or done to me. “If you’re naive enough to think that way then you better do some soul-searching yourself”, Coughlin said.
Ron Rivera said Tuesday he’s banning the baseball bat before games to avoid future controversy, but doesn’t believe any homophobic slurs were used based on what his players told him.
“I’ll be the reason you don’t play today…and other days”, Ball said, according to Wing.
The Inquisitr reported earlier on Wednesday that Beckham was not the only player to be punished for the events in Sunday’s game. “If you want to play, let’s play it straight up, let’s do it the right way”.
