National Football League to review handling of hits to Cam Newton during season opener
During the game, Newton took a series of hits to the head, only one of which drew a penalty.

“Just because we hit Cam in the head a couple of times, that doesn’t make us dirty”.
“The NFL is committed to the proper application of the Concussion Protocol”, the NFL said. “But then the people that I talk to that are in the military say, ‘I fought for your right to stand or sit, I fought for all your rights, so I support you.’ Everybody doesn’t believe that, but some people who actually serve this country do believe that”.
Under a new policy jointly announced in July, Panthers could face discipline from National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell if it’s found the medical team didn’t follow the protocol.
The most obvious example came previous year when linebacker Luke Kuechly was immediately ruled out of the season opener when he suffered a concussion after making a tackle while leading his head.
During Saturday’s 20-19 home win over rival BYU, Tauteoli returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown on the game’s first play.
“We’re getting called dirty?” Look at some of the dirty plays in the league.
Marshall said other teams will be hitting Newton the same way, too, because he’s like a defensive end barreling down on defenders and the only way for a smaller safety or linebacker to bring him down is to go high or low. “They concluded there were no indications of a concussion that would require further evaluation and the removal of the player”. But what happened to Newton is truly unprecedented, in the past decade at least. I’m a likeable guy.
“I’m not here to spread hate”, Marshall said.
“If he had any problems I didn’t see it”.
“I don’t think that’s what we are”, Broncos linebacker Todd Davis said.
A Panthers official told The Charlotte Observer that Newton passed four concussion tests after the game: in the locker room, on the bus to the airport, during the flight and at the airport after the team landed. As of Monday, Newton still wasn’t showing any signs of symptoms.
Rivera’s update on Newton comes just days after he claimed that several of the hits on him should have been penalized and that he planned to send them to the league office for review.
The NFL Players Association said it will also launch a compliance investigation.

That seems like wishful thinking, though. The Colts are a tough team, much like the Panthers, but the Colts aren’t as good of a team on the defense as the Panthers are. That’s not for me to comment on who did what. I speak for everybody when I say that, because I know they agree with me.
