National Hockey League: Flyers’ Michael Raffl Collapses On Bench During Game Against Rangers
New York Rangers’ J.T. Miller, left, celebrates his goal as Philadelphia Flyers’ Evgeny Medvedev skate past during the first period of an NHL hockey game, Saturday, October 24, 2015, in Philadelphia.

The New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers square off Saturday at Wells Fargo Center.
Raffl had to be helped to the locker room in the second period of a 3-2 shootout win over the New York Rangers after he says he became dizzy and passed out for a couple of seconds on the bench.
Despite staying fairly even with the Flyers throughout the first period, Philadelphia found a way to break through with a goal coming from Mark Streit. The puck skidded into the corner, but Nash picked up his first of the season and 700th career point regardless. Henrik Lundqvist has allowed 14 goals on 224 shots faced and Antti Raanta has given up zero goals on 22 shots. “I told him to move and then I realized that he wasn’t joking around and I started freaking out and yelling at Jimmy (McCrossin, the Flyers’ Director of Sports Medicine)”.
The Rangers appeared to take a 3-2 lead with 8:15 left in the second.
Michael Raffl says he’s fine and will be ready to go on Tuesday night when the Flyers return to action. Raffl collided with Rangers forward Jarret Stoll during the second period and took an “accidental” elbow to the face, according to Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly.
At practice, Sam Gagner, who had been playing wing in most games, took Couturier’s spot, centering Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds.
Gagner made up for his miss by scoring to start the shootout. After Mason stopped Mats Zuccarello, Giroux scored a nifty goal.
Derek Stepan, who did not participate in Friday’s practice because of lingering pain from an oral procedure he had undergone on Wednesday, was in the lineup after skating Saturday morning. As the penalty ended on Brassard’s turnover, Simmonds darted out of the box on a two-on-one and Lundqvist had to make a kick save with his right leg.
Lundqvist made consecutive, tough saves in front of the net to preserve the 2-2 tie with 6 minutes left in regulation. No three-point plays.
In their ninth game of the season, the Rangers finally had their first coach’s challenge. And then both teams regrouped before play resumed. He hasn’t scored a goal against the Rangers since February 11, 2012. Scott Laughton picked up the puck and snapped a shot past Lundqvist from the circle at 2:07.

With the score tied at 1 after one period, Marc Staal slowed Brayden Schenn on a rush down the left boards, but his attempted clear bounced back. Keith Yandle’s backhander was deflected by Oscar Lindberg and Miller, at the right post, swatted the puck out of the air past Mason.
