The Humboldt Broncos bus was travelling to Nipawin for a playoff game against the Hawks when it was hit by a tractor-trailer on Highway 35 near Tisdale.
“While en route to Nipawin, the Broncos bus was involved in a awful accident which has resulted in multiple fatalities and serious injuries”. Conditions were a little more cramped at the time for BCHL teams on the bus compared to some of the luxury coaches of the Western Hockey league squads.
Tributes in support of the victims, their families and the community have been pouring in all weekend from politicians, hockey elite, world leaders and celebrities.
Kevin Porter, the president of St. Albert Raiders hockey club, said Hunter “always had a smile on his face”.
When I think about the awful crash of April 6, 2018, my mind often goes to a picture taken of the team just weeks ago.
Garinger says one of the injured players has been released from hospital. “Whether you like it or not, from my previous career (as a police officer), that’s just life”.
“I’m going to miss you bro”, he said on Instagram. Hardlotte said he wanted to make sure PAGC is ready to help in any way they can, and they are ready to offer assistance if called upon.
At least 15 people have died following a devastating bus crash.
“Not one of us is alone in our grief”, he said.
Despite a local fan base that tops out at about 5,000, the Broncos play in an arena that rivals those used by professional teams.
Myles Shumlanski, father of one of the Broncos players, described the crash scene as a “disaster” to the Saskatoon Star Phoenix paper.
“Feeling connected to your community and having a faith and support network is one of the strongest protective factors we have against mental health issues”.
Joseph, 20, the son of former NHL player Chris Joseph, was among the leading scorers in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs.
The University is planning to put out Cross’ jersey and a book of condolences for the public to sign, for his family and long-time girlfriend who also attended York.
“It certainly brings back memories – and not very good ones”, Green said of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy.
“The Raiders are so tight knit and so many guys knew those four”, said Sam Smith-Ackerl, captain of the 2016/17 midget AAA Raiders who assisted Raiders’ head coach Jack Redlick in the initative. At the end of the day, what we’re going to do is what we think is right.
Truly moving. National Hockey League teams across and United States and Canada honored the junior players who tragically died in a bus crash on April 6. “We grieve for your hockey family and the ones that have passed on a (…) trip we know so well”.
