National parks offering free admission through Sunday to celebrate centennial
This morning, participants formed NPS’ emblem and the number 100 using brown, white, and orange umbrellas, which they got to keep. Park employees say this is not only a celebration, but an opportunity to create an awareness about the National Park Service and to teach people about our national treasures. A recent study by the National Park Service found that only 11 percent of Yosemite visitors were Latino, despite the ethnic group making up 39 percent of the state’s population.

The answer to the question of what you get the National Park Service that has everything seems to be an adorable doodle.
The newest addition is the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in ME, which President Obama designated on Wednesday.
Yellowstone National Park in the western United States was established in 1872 as the first national park in America.
“(The Parks are) what makes us who we are, both in the natural landscapes that tell about the human story, how much we’ve evolved, and in some cases how much more we need to grow”, said Ekong.
