Washington Nationals’ Jayson Werth (28) celebrates his home run with Bryce Harper (34) during the fifth inning of a baseball game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Washington. Wilson Ramos hit a towering shot off the wall near the right field foul pole and back onto the field. The Nationals entered the game as the league leader in homers with 128.

Clint Robinson hit for Gonzalez with runners on the corners in the bottom of the sixth after Turner’s triple and a HBP on Danny Espinosa.

Washington hit four home runs as Dodgers’ starting pitcher Bud Norris was beaten by the long ball all game. In the latest outing, an 8-1 loss to the Nationals, Norris could not finish the sixth inning and gave up six runs.

With his double in the eighth, Dodgers LF Howie Kendrick extended his hitting streak to 12 games. The Dodgers head into tonight’s game with a very respectable 53-42 record and are right in the mix in the National League West race with the San Francisco Giants and if they can get a win here against Strasburg and the Nats they could be in good shape as the weekend approaches. The deciding game of the three-game series is scheduled for Thursday.

Harper absolutely clobbered a four-seam fastball that traveled an estimated 451-feet and the Nationals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.

The Dodgers fell short on Sunday despite scoring five runs in the last two innings, causing them to lose their first series of the year against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Scott Van Slyke singled with one down, stole second, took third on an error on the play and eventually scored on a two-out single to right by Dodgers’ shortstop Charlie Culberson that cut the Nats’ lead in half, 2-1. He spent the entire 2015 season at Class-A Potomac where he set personal highs in starts (19), innings (99.0) and strikeouts (94).

The 23-year-old right-hander has made a total of 33 minor league appearances this season en route to amassing 45.1 innings of work alongside a flawless 3-0 record and a 2.18 ERA. The Dodgers placed RHP Chris Hatcher (oblique) on the 15-day DL and announced LHP Alex Wood would miss eight weeks after undergoing elbow debridement.2. “They hit the ball out of the ballpark”, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

Every flinch, hand flick, leg shake and general look of discomfort from a Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher will be overanalyzed now that Clayton Kershaw’s time on the disabled list has been reset to indefinite.
