Nationals put Strasburg on disabled list with sore elbow
But the difference between making the playoffs and winning the World Series is what separates the champion from the other nine, and now that rides on the health of Stephen Strasburg’s sore pitching elbow.

“No. 1, we’ve never seen him”.
Strasburg is 15-4 with a 3.59 ERA.
Your arm works a little bit differently when you do have surgery like that, he said. “I had to battle through a leadoff walk, a leadoff double, stuff like that”.
Schoop tied it with his 20th homer in the third inning.
NOTES: The Orioles are 34-23 against the Nationals since the franchise relocated from Montreal to Washington. Turner stole second and scored on Daniel Murphy’s single. Baltimore will look for a solid outing from Gausman here but they have been few and far between and even though they are at home here where they have been lights out all season they are in tough against a hard hitting Nats side.
“It’s happened to me a lot, so I’ve gotten used to”, Cole said when asked about bouncing back. “I had to convince him that the risk isn’t worth the gain right now”.
O’s closer Zach Britton came on in the ninth and closed it out.
Cole – Washington’s fourth-round selection in the 2010 draft – was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to replace scheduled starter Stephen Strasburg, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness.
“He did more than save our bullpen, he threw a heckuva game”, Baker said. “Great poise and great command against a very good offense”. The Orioles were able to shut down Bryce Harper who went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.
“It was a weird couple days”, Cole said. “This is what the game is. This is what I’ve been getting ready for”. Sherman, citing a source, says the Nationals are being proactive by putting Strasburg on the disabled list in an effort to “get him right” for the postseason. The Nationals lost in five games in the NLDS that season and we keep seeing why the decision to shut down Strasburg may have been foolish.

That lead didn’t last long as Manny Machado and Chris Davis hit back-to-back doubles off Cole to start the O’s fourth, with Macado coming around on Davis’s 18th two-base hit. C Caleb Joseph (batting.193 in 114 at-bats) was optioned to Norfolk. The 22-year-old Dominican struck out a season-high 11 while allowing one earned run and four hits in seven innings to earn a win over the Atlanta Braves.
