Natural disaster: 4.3-magnitude quake shakes Inland Empire
There were no injuries or damage but power was for a time knocked out to some 4,500 homes in the region.

The quake struck about 5:50 p.m.in Devore near San Bernardino and was felt in Riverside.

SkyTrain’s Expo and Millennium lines were shut down for approximately an hour as a safety precaution to ensure the elevated guideways were not damaged by the tremors.

The quake was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest one measure 3.8 magnitude.
“I thought it was the people kicking the seats behind us but found out it was an quake”, he told CTV Vancouver.
It’s not unusual for an quake of this size to hit along the West Coast and Vancouver Island in British Columbia because there’s a large subduction zone in the area that produces lots of seismic activity, Baldwin said.
But he added: “Earthquakes are a lot more common around the world than we might think…it’s not really an unusual natural disaster”, with about 1,000 similar “light to moderate” quakes felt globally every month.

Shaking was reported throughout Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
