Larry Williams speaks to U.S. correspondent Steve Merczynski about the bombing in NY over the weekend.

The news agency Reuters quoted two United States unnamed officials as saying investigators believed there were more people involved than just Rahami.

The official says two officers were shot in the encounter in Linden, New Jersey.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the investigation.

Rahami is a USA citizen of Afghan descent.

Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage says two men called police and reported seeing wires and a pipe coming out of the package after finding it at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Experts said a large amount would be required to create a blast like the one Saturday night, as well as an accelerant or other ignitor.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents review the crime scene of remnants of bomb debris on 23rd Street in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood on Sunday in New York City.

Federal investigators in Quantico, Virginia, were examining evidence from the explosions in NY and New Jersey. He says the president also expressed appreciation for the work of first responders. While Rahami has been linked to the bombs in Manhattan and Seaside Park, authorities have not yet connected those bombings to the pipe bombs discovered in Elizabeth, according to the Washington Post.

Ahmad Khan Rahami of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was taken into custody after firing at police officer in Linden, New Jersey, about 20 miles outside New York, Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage said. It was not possible to verify whether those images were of the second device.

Authorities launched a massive manhunt for 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami on Monday, and officials suggested as many as four separate incidents could be linked to an worldwide network.

Authorities are looking for a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan for questioning in a weekend explosion in a Manhattan neighborhood that injured 29 people as the governor conceded Monday that investigators could no longer rule out global terrorism.

Three pipe bombs wired together had been found earlier in the day (18 September) near a New Jersey charity run in Seaside Park to raise money to benefit US Marines and sailors.

Five suspected explosive devices have been found in a backpack near a train station in New Jersey with one exploding when a bomb squad robot tried to disarm it.

The moment a blast rocked Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood Saturday night, injuring at least 29 people, was caught on closed-circuit television footage from three cameras.

Police officers look for suspicious packages along Fifth Avenue near the scene of an explosion on West 23rd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, in NY, early Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016.

Cuomo said the investigation is ongoing, and “I wouldn’t be surprised if it zeroes in on a particular individual, today even”, and that he “wouldn’t be surprised if we found a foreign connection to the act”.

On Sunday, Cuomo had effectively ruled out a link to global terrorism, saying there was no evidence to suggest that. All of those admitted to hospitals had been released.

Cellphones were discovered at the site of both the NY and New Jersey bombings, but no Tannerite residue was identified in the New Jersey bomb remnants, in which a black powder was detected, said the official, who wasn’t authorized to comment on the investigation and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity. While no one has yet been charged, police sources are telling USA media that the men had a number of weapons in the vehicle with them, and that they had driven over from Staten Island and, according to the New York Daily News, may have been heading to the airport.

The NYPD tweeted Monday morning that authorities were seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami.
