Jammu: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday shifted Udhampur terror attack accused Muhammad Naveed alias Usman to New Delhi from Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have already recommended their names to the Centre for Shaurya Chakra gallantry award.

On Tuesday, a special National Investigation Agency-designate court had granted 14 days remand of Naved alias Usman alias Qasim Khan to the NIA. His training, family and the association with the Lashkar-e-Taiba will be dealt with in the next round of investigations. Sources in the agency, which sought Naveed’s custody for deepening its probe, said he could be sent to Delhi for further questioning. The NIA is now likely to take over a dozen of people identified by Naved into custody for interrogation.

NIA, which took over the case last week, has booked him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for waging war against the nation, besides provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act.
