Navjot Sidhu to launch new political party – Awaaz-e-Punjab today

The former Chief Minister interacting with reporters along the sidelines of his “Coffee with Captain” programme, also clarified that neither he nor the Congress party had sent any emissaries to invite Sidhu to join the party.

The chirpy Sidhu, who formally announced a new political front “Awaaz-e-Punjab” here on Thursday, said that his fight was against the system and the leaders who had “ruined” Punjab.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain told the assembly on Friday that he will seek a probe from Delhi Police into the alleged leak of security detail of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“The BJP will ensure that the people of Punjab expose Kejriwal vis-a-vis his misdeeds in every nook and corner of the state”, he added.

He also used his trademark Sidhu-isms to target Badals and accused them of cornering all business and making Punjab a pauper.

However, it can’t be said that this decision might change Kejriwal’s perception or not.

“I will be here (in Punjab) only and we have dug the “khunta” (pole). My resignation from Rajya Sabha had nothing to do with Kejriwal ji”, said Sidhu.

“They (AAP) wanted to make me another decoration piece”.

Reacting strongly to allegations made by Sidhu against Badal clan, Punjab Chief Minister said, “Why Mr. Sidhu didn’t raise these issues while he and his wife were part of the government”. Senior advocate Sudhir Nandrajog, appearing for the Delhi government, referred to the August 4 verdict and said, “Today, I have to concede that the judgement stands against me (Delhi government)”.

“But people of Punjab are wise, they know Sukhbir Badal is behind it and no one is going to believe or listen to them”, he said.

“This time Punjab will win”. The court’s order came as a major shot in the arm for AAP’s political rivals, the BJP and Congress, who are now demanding that the Election Commission should hasten the process of disqualifying the MLAs and hold by-elections by December.

“We are not fighting for personal gains but for Punjab’s better future”, he said. “The same way East India Company took over and ruled India”, he said.

Kejriwal, also AAP’s national convenor, arrived on a four-day visit to poll-bound Punjab yesterday to boost the party’s prospects.
