A memorial service will be held for Wells, of Marietta, at the school’s stadium at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, General Ray Odierno, Army chief of staff, said the Army was reviewing security at recruiting centers.

The whereabouts of the Abdulazeez family are not immediately. “He was telling me work was going great”, one of his friends told the Associated Press. He died in a gunfight with law enforcement.

For jihadists and ultraconservative Salafist Sunni Muslims, the Hadith “is usually understood within the context of al-wala wa-l-bara (or) love for Islam and hatred for its enemies”, said David Cook, an associate professor who specializes in Islam in the department of religion at Rice University in Texas.

The New York Times said Abdulazeez’s friend had been interviewed by the FBI and investigators were verifying the text.

“He said he was very sorry for what his son did”, he said.

Issa said he had not spoken to Abdulazeez since that call.

Three other people were injured, including a sailor who died of his wounds in hospital on 18 July.

According to his family, officer Smith saw the shooter and warned people around him but was unable to get away.

Abdulazeez told the officer that he had crushed and snorted caffeine pills, and that he had been drinking and smoking marijuana with friends.

The Tennessee Valley Authority also confirmed to the AP that Abdulazeez was a student intern a few years ago at the federally owned utility, which operates power plants and dams in the South.

The New York Times also reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the text message.

Kingery said funeral arrangements for Wells are still pending. They’re trying to determine what Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez did during that trip, whom he met with and whether he might have gone or tried to go anywhere else. A short time later, four Marines he had shot lay dead. He was Muslim but was not known by acquaintences to be radicalized.

“Everyone knew of him”.

Utah, which previous year passed legislation allowing soldiers at National Guard facilities to carry weapons, said it would “explore additional ways to protect our men and women serving in the Armed Forces” in the wake of the attack, according to a statement from Governor Gary Herbert.

In the wake of the shooting, Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Saturday ordered state National Guard recruitment personnel at six storefront locations to relocate to the nearest armory until security can be improved at the sites and any terror threats could be evaluated.

A law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity said FBI agents were continuing to interview people Sunday and reaching out to a broader circle of potential contacts and acquaintances. Abdulazeez was shot to death by police.
